The Aquarian Teacher™ KRI Level 1 Teacher Training Program is designed for:

  • Students of Kundalini Yoga

  • Students of other schools of yoga

  • Teachers of all forms of yoga

  • Anyone seeking to deepen their yogic experience


The 220-hour certification program exceeds the Yoga Alliance requirements, and graduates earn the title of KRI Certified Instructor of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®.

As a KRI certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor, you will be trained in the tradition passed on by Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga, to carry the legacy of Kundalini Yoga into the Aquarian Age. By teaching Kundalini Yoga you link in the Golden Chain, the subtle connection between you and Yogi Bhajan and the legacy of teachers which goes back in time to the sacred source of the teachings of Kundalini Yoga.


In Level 1 you will become an Instructor and gain a deep understanding and experience of the core of the science of Kundalini Yoga. You will develop the skills to instruct students in Kundalini Yoga kriyas and meditations as taught by Yogi Bhajan. You will practice teaching Kundalini Yoga in a practicum setting, participate in early morning Sadhanas (spiritual practice), and experience the powerful transformational energy of White Tantric Yoga. This is a 220 hour course, which includes 180 hours of classroom instruction in a well-defined curriculum which includes:

  • Foundations of Kundalini Yoga

  • Awakening the Consiousness

  • Teaching Kundalini Yoga Postures, Kriyas & Meditations

  • Mantras, Sound Current/Naad and Mudras

  • Role of a Kundalini Yoga Teacher

  • Yogic Philosophy & The Origin of Kundalini Yoga

  • Yogic & Western Anatomy

  • Humanology & 3HO Yogic Lifestyle

GuruMeher Singh Khalsa

Lead Trainer

GuruMeher means "Compassionate Teacher". He has taught Kundalini Yoga for 35 years and trains teachers internationally. He is a professional Life Coach and creator of Senses of the Soul, a meditative system of emotional self-therapy. The SOS Method has been called “the next evolution in therapy” and is available in live workshops, for self-study by book, audio and video classes, and in private coaching with GuruMeher.


Gurutej Kaur Khalsa

For over 40 years, Gurutej has been living her destiny and continues to awaken the spirit of all she touches.  As one of Yogi Bhajan’s original students, Gurutej emerged as a founding practitioner of Kundalini. Through his instruction and spiritual guidance, Gurutej is considered a foremost authority on Kundalini Yoga and internationally recognized as one of a handful of Kundalini Yoga Masters.

Dr. Japa Kaur Khalsa

Dr. Khalsa travels and teaches internationally as a Professional Teacher Trainer for Kundalini Yoga, as co-author of Enlightened Bodies, she brings an awareness of the human body’s potential to self heal in her work.

Her studies of energy medicine, yoga and herbal medicine and their role in modern healthcare began 20 years ago after her graduation from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s of Science. She earned her next degree as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) which empowers her consultations  with authenticity and truth. Her treatments allow for in depth shifts in the frequency and pulse of an individual so they can transform the gaps in their lives. She has a special alignment with women’s health; supporting all women to be empowered through meditation, yoga and the use of specific herbs to support a woman’s health through all the times of her life.

Keval Kaur Khalsa

Keval Kaur Khalsa, M.A., is a Professor of the Practice of Dance & Theater Studies at Duke University, a Kundalini Yoga Lead Teacher Trainer, a Y.O.G.A. for Youth Teacher Trainer, and the North Carolina Regional Coordinator for Y.O.G.A. for Youth.  A faculty member in the Duke University Dance Program for 30 years, Keval Kaur directed the Dance Program for seven years, teaches courses in dance, Kundalini Yoga & Sikh Dharma, and activist theater, and is currently conducting a multi-year research study on the effects of yoga and meditation on middle school students, supported by Duke’s Bass Connections Initiative. She is the co-founder of the Y.O.G.A. for Youth Satellite in North Carolina.  Keval Kaur has been teaching Kundalini Yoga & Meditation for the past 20 years in locations in North America, South America, and Africa. She has trained Kundalini Yoga teachers in North Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, California, Michigan, and Accra (Ghana).  She owns Kundalini Yoga Durham, a donation-based community yoga space in Durham, NC, and is dedicated to making Kundalini Yoga available to underserved populations.


Sat Purkh Kaur Khalsa

A KRI Certified Level Three Kundalini Yoga Teacher as well as Lead Trainer in the Aquarian Trainer Academy, Sat Purkh is known for her work in Sound & Mantra as well as Humanology and the Women's Teachings; in 2008 she authored Everyday Grace: The Art of Being a Woman, an introduction to the Women's Teachings of Yogi Bhajan. more…

Sat Purkh joined the Kundalini Research Institute in 2006 and served as the Creative Director until the fall of 2013. A member of the Teacher Training Executive Council, she serves in developing the Three Levels of Teacher Training in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®, and also served on the KRI Board of Directors from 2014-2017.

She has eight albums of sacred music, Nectar of the Name, Beautiful Day: The Aquarian Sadhana, Queen Be: The Goddess Within, Love & Other Miracles, One: Love, Life, Light, The Pearl: Maiden, Mother, Crone, The Guru Within, and Across the World Ocean. She lives with her husband and their menagerie of animals, and is always at work on her next album of sacred music.

This program is based on the comprehensive science of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan.

The Aquarian Teacher Training program is a journey of your development as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher.

There are three levels of certification:

KRI Level 1 - Instructor

KRI Level 2 - Practitioner

KRI Level 3 - Teacher

In Level 1 you become an Instructor. You will gain a deep understanding and experience the core science of Kundalini Yoga. You develop the skills to instruct students in Kundalini Yoga kriyas and meditations as taught by Yogi Bhajan.



The Aquarian Teacher Training team reserves the right to grant KRI Certification based solely on their discretion and evaluation of each participant's readiness to be a Kundalini Yoga teacher.

Evaluation is based on successfully meeting the Aquarian Teacher Training course requirements including, but not limited to:

  • Attendance at all classes

  • Satisfactory practicum assessment & passing grade on the written examination

  • Current professional membership with IKYTA

  • Completion of 20 Kundalini Yoga classes

  • Participation of at least 5 Aquarian Group Sadhanas (Group Sadhanas will be offered every training weekend

  • Completion of a 40 day Aquarian Sadhana practice (2.5 hours daily practice)

  • Creation of two yoga course curricula

  • Attendance at a White Tantric Yoga course within one year of the end of your course. Please know you will not receive your certificate until all requirements are completed. To get the worldwide White Tantric Workshop schedule go to (White Tantric yoga course is NOT included in your course fee). 

  • Proper representation of The Code of Ethics & Professional Standards of A Kundalini Yoga Teacher

  • Full payment of course fees

KRI Level 1 Teachers Training course fulfills the Yoga Alliance's 200 hour national standard for a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). With your KRI certification, you can apply for and receive a Yoga Alliance accreditation.
